So here's a little secret... I'm fat.
Yep, been fat for about my whole life. LOL! Some how I found Pilot, who loves me just the way I am and that has been a wonderful marvelous blessing.
If there is a diet out there I've tried it! I've often wondered why it's so hard for me? Why is it that so many people find weight manageable but I am stuck in this body that I just can't change or manage? I mean, I can change it if I hard core quit eating... (working out doesn't seem to do the trick, less food works best for me) But then once I lose the weight it normally just comes back on in just a few months. I've often thought there has to be a different way. Maybe the way I think? The way I eat? (besides to much) : )
And then a friend of mine lent me this book called I can make you thin by Paul Mckenna. It's the first diet book that I've read that talks about the mental aspect of being overweight versus the here's the next best diet to try book. It talks about how overweight people tend to not know when they are full, and that they are to busy trying to eat things that are "healthy" that they are ignoring the signals from their bodies. So here are four golden rules from that book:
1. Eat when you're hungry.
2. Eat what you actually want.
3. Eat consciously and enjoy each mouthful.
4. Stop when you think you're full.
I know, I know simple huh. But I guess you can tell you are overweight when you read those four golden rules and think "wow, really?" (if you are thin you probably think that all the time)
Of course this book has a whole bunch of great ideas... I'm just enjoying reading about the mental approach to losing weight.... It's about time I look at that aspect of it. Anyways... we'll see what tomorrow brings... just another thought from a confused know it all.

Ok, I will have to say I am very puzzled. I am too fat & wasn't really this way til I had children both via C-sections. It's really hard to lose weight like other vaginal birth mommies when you can't move very much for 6 weeks in fear of the incision bursting open. I made a decision in January to take control of my weight. It has taken 8.5mo to lose 31 pounds and I still have that to go to hit my goal weight. I just want to say it can happen & it has to be a LIFE CHANGING EVENT. You have to take control of what you eat, how you eat & portions, portions & portions. I thought I was eating healthy & yes, I was however never thought portions were my problem. I measure everything I eat according to the package suggestions. The only thing I eat 2 servings of is Cheerios, only cuz the serving size barely feeds my kids and carries them thru the day. I walk 30-60 min a day 5-6 days a week. This can be done in the morning, before your hubby goes to work if you are worried about the kids.
I'm glad I tripped on your blog as I always wonder what others are writing about and haven't gone as far creating my own blog yet. Was going to for my weightloss journey & may still do one for that. By the way, I'm a friend (Melanie) of Leah's sister Tara. Good luck & hope you keep us posted on how it goes. Leah can get in contact with me if you want further encouragment. :O)
I LOVE your intro. LOL. And I love that Pilot adores you...because he should!!
Melanie, love it. I think you are spot on. I think that is the gist of the book. Eat slowly enjoy what you are eating and eat less. I am so proud of you, what an accomplishment. You have to keep me posted on your success. I hope that in a few months I can share with you my success. : )
Ah, he does love me. I am a lucky girl.
